The Basics
Understanding the basics and how to make the pass line bet will help you get started and on your way. When beginning to play craps it is not necessarily good to know all of the other bets, sticking with the pass line bet will keep you in the game and eventually you will pick up the other bets around the table.
There are some 40 different bets at the craps table and most of them have horrible odds that favor the casino and should be avoided at almost any cost while learning to play craps. For now all you need is to learn the pass line bet.
Pass line Bet
The pass line works like this. Place your bet on the pass line before a new come out roll. If the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 you win. If it is a 2, 3, or 12, you lose. Anything in between becomes the point for that shooter. For the shooter to win, he must roll his point again before rolling a 7. If that happens, you win even money for the pass line bet, if the 7 is rolled before the point is accomplished, you lose.
If someone rolls an 8 on their come out roll, this is the Point. A marker is place on the 8 on the layout. Now the shooter rolls again and hits a 8 on his second roll, you win, and the shooter rolls again. This is considered a new come out roll and the same procedure applies to this roll as it did for the first come out roll that guy made on his first roll of the dice.
If the shooter rolls a seven before rolling an 8, all bets on the pass line lose, and the dice are passed to the next shooter.
