Playing Draw Poker

Draw Poker is the basic type of the popular card game poker. All the variations of the poker game are derived from draw poker. Here you can learn about the basic rules of draw poker.

How to Play Draw Poker:

The purpose of the draw poker player is to achieve a 5 card hand with the highest value, created out of two parts of card dealing. During the game, the players can replace some of their cards. All the cards dealt during the game are uncovered. The draw poker is being played with a 52 card deck, with no jokers or wild cards.

How is the Game Played?

The game starts with all the players placing an ante, which is a small amount of money that symbolizes an entry fee to the game. The antes and the other bets are collected in the center of the table and are called pot.

After all the players put their antes, the dealer deals one face down card to each player each time, until all the players receive 5 cards. After the dealing, the players can pick up their cards and estimate their hand value

The first betting round of the draw poker game begins. Each player, starting from the player on the dealers left, has to decide whether to bet, check, or fold. If the player decides to check, it means he passes this betting round without placing an additional bet and If he folds, he is discarding his 5 cards hand.

After the first player places a bet, each of the players has to choose between calling, raising or folding. A player who calls intends to match the bet to the amount of money already placed in the pot. If he folds, he passes out the round, and if he raises, it means he places an additional bet.

At the end of the draw poker game, the remaining players are exposing their hands, known as showdown, and the player with 5 cards hand with the highest value wins the pot
