Kathy Liebert
Kathy Liebert is a much respected poker player. She is considered, along with Annie Duke and Jennifer Harman, one of the best female poker players in the world. She got famous by being the first woman to win a one million dollar prize at a tournament and she is ranked in the top ten money makers in the poker industry.
Biography
Kathy Liebert was born in Tennessee and grew up in Long Island. Kathy started playing poker with her family at a very young age. She studied at Marist College in Poughkeepsie and got a B. S. degree in business and finance. She worked as an analyst for Dunn and Bradstreet for a year until she realized she doesn't like her job. She quite her job as an analyst and traveled for a while. After that she moved to California and started playing poker in Las Vegas. In 1991 she started playing low-limit poker in Colorado and in 1994 she began to play at tournaments. She started winning tournament right from the start. At that point she has decided to peruse poker professionally, and all the rest is history. She said the secret of her success is her competitiveness and her constant urge to learn and read all the time about poker. Her favorite game is No-Limit Hold'em because it requires great deal of gaming skills and the jackpot is relatively high. Nowadays she divides her time between Las Vegas and Southern California.
Achievements
Kathy won the inaugural Party Poker Million in 2002, but did not earned the entire sum due to a prior deal she made with second and third place (Berj Kacherian and Phil Hellmuth). She won the competition on GSN's Poker Royale: Battle of the Sexes for a $100,000 prize. She won in many tournaments including the 2004 World Series of Poker Limit Hold'em Shoot Out. Kathy is currently ranks fifth on the WSOP money list for women.
Safe Gambler
Kathy has a habit to enter some of her tournaments through single-table satellites because they offer a way to reduce costs. Although she is in a way a gambler, she is still doing everything to maintain an organized financial life by taking some of her winning money invests them in the stock market to ensure her financial future.
