Miami John Cernuto
Cernuto is not a famous face at the poker scene because he hasn't appeared on the World Poker Tour yet, but he one of the best in the game of Omaha High Low and he has more first place finishes in this event than anyone else. He is experienced at multi table games, he gets a lot of respect at the poker table for his confidence and he has won the accumulate amount of 2.5 million dollars from tournaments in the United States and Europe.
Short Biography
Cernuto was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on January 11th, 1944 and graduated from Florida State University with finance major. After his graduation he worked as an air traffic controller at Miami-Dade International Airport for 17 years until president Reagan fired all the airline employees that participated in the strike of 1981.
He started playing poker prior to this event at the age of 20, so after he got fired he pursued poker professionally. He entered the poker world rather smoothly and the poker community was happy to have him. He won his first major tournament in 1988 and collected a prize of $50,000 at a Caesar's Palace tournament. His favorite and best game is Omaha High Low, but he plays quit good in other poker games. John now lives in Las Vegas Nevada with his wife and three children.
Achievements
He won three World Series of Poker bracelets at the following events: Seven Card Stud Eight-or-Better from 1996, No Limit Holdem in 1997 and Omaha in 2002. He had a Legends poker win in HOE (Holdem/Omaha/Stud8) in 2003, which showed his multible talents. He has won over fifty first place titles and three best overall player awards. In 2004 he won two back to back Omaha High Low events, the first at the L.A. Poker Classic and the second from Bay 101 Shooting Stars.
In 2003 Cernuto played in ParadisePoker.com World Heads Up Poker Championship in Vienna, Austria, and won the event. At the he event he ended up beating 128 players including Phil Hellmuth, Scotty Nguyen and Carlos Mortensen.
