About 300 poker players from Arkansas, Alabama, Texas and other states took part in the first event in the Small Town Poker Tour series. The two days event was held at the Atrium Hotel in Monroe, Louisiana. 105 players have made it to the main event that took place on the second day of the tournament.
Although less than ten women had entered the Small Town Poker Tour first event, two of them had made it to the final table. Debbie Goodwin and Michelle Rison finished eighth and third, respectively. John Nowell is the champion of the second chance event. He won a seat at the STPT Championships plus a Visa Gift card.
The Small Town Poker Tour is a series of poker tournaments worldwide. The STPT has two purposes: one is to find the best amateur poker players in the world and the second is to support several non profit organizations. The first STPT event would benefit the Uniformed Officers of Ouachita Parish. The STPT events champions will participate in the Small Town Poker Tour World Amateur Championships, which will take place in Las Vegas and will be broadcast on TV.
