Casinos in Atlantic City Report Higher Numbers Than Expected.

According to last years report, the casinos in Atlantic City, New Jersey, took 5.9 percent more money from the gamblers in 2005 than they did a year earlier, said the states Casino Control Commission.

The casinos winnings totals for the month of June totaled 428.1 million dollars, the regulator for the state said. Plus, for the first half of the year, the casinos won 2.5 billion dollars from the customer, up 5.9 percent from the same fiscal period last year.

The Atlantic City casino which were shut down for only three days last week due to a problem with the state budget, are still trying to turn the seaside resort area into a massive entertainment destination like Las Vegas, by remodeling and adding rooms plus amenities, as well as upscale shopping in the gambling dominated atmosphere.

Several casinos and their companies are upgrading their properties and holdings in the Atlantic City area, and are really trying to improve the area.

Atlantic City and its 12 casinos are the second largest gambling market in the US and watched this year so far as their slot machine winnings rose 3.7 percent to318 millions dollars, while table gaming rose 12.8 percent to 109 million dollars. It does not seem to me like there is ever a quarter when the casinos profits are under what was expected.

Casinos paid roughly 34.3 million dollars in taxes during the month of June in the state of New Jersey the state regulator said.
