Bookmakers Lost Millions
Over ten of Tottenham's players were ill the night before the wake of the West Ham-Tottenham match with suspected food poisoning and cost British bookmakers and betting exchanges millions of pounds.
British bookmakers said that there was an unusual betting activity on West Ham on the Sunday morning, with many switching bets. Sources suspect that Tottenham officials knew, prior to the game, the players' condition and asked for a postponement first thing in the morning.
Betting exchangers claimed that most bets were placed against Tottenham and great deal of them was placed on Sunday morning. British bookmakers and betting exchanges lost millions of pounds and now they are considering the possibility to file a complaint.
Scotland Yard has said that an investigation will be followed the incident, looking into the possibility of leaks of inside information. The investigation will be launched as soon as an official complaint is received.
