First Prize -Trip to Vegas

Wesley Wilburn, an anthropology student from MSU entered an online tournament over his Christmas break and won the first prize. The first prize was an all-expense paid trip to Las Vegas to play in the World Series of Poker in July.
Wilburn is one of many young people who play poker online. Many people got familiar with the poker game and the online gambling through the internet.

Dream Come True

Wilburn says that playing in the World Series of Poker is something he had always wanted to do. "It's the biggest tournament in the world, and you get to play against the best players in the world" says Wilburn.

When asked if this new development in his life is making him reconsider finishing school, Wilburn answers he still plan on finishing school and graduating in December, but after doing so, he will consider turning his poker hobby into a career, although he says he knows he would have to play a lot of games and make a lot of money in order to make a living out of poker.

Online Poker

Poker expert Lou Krieger says that besides having good gaming skilled, a poker player needs to understand there is a very strong luck factor. Whether you play good or not, there is nothing you can do about the luck factor.

Krieger is a professional poker player, a columns writer on poker strategy for Card Player magazine and best selling author of several poker books such as "Poker for Dummies" and "The Poker Player's Bible".

Krieger claims poker got its popularity from the spreading of online gambling, introducing the game to thousands of people. The excess to the gambling world and to the game of poker is much chipper and easier now then in the past.

Chances of Winning

Krieger advises Wilburn to play as good as he can, but not to go all the way and not to overlook the luck factor. He claims the trick is to stay in the game the longest and avoid confrontation. Krieger says he believes Wilburn is in a great poison because he already played against more then 5,000 players online, and won. Krieger also says that in the last few years the winners were unknown players so Wilburn may have a shot of winning.
