The Kerzner International Ltd. and another conglomerate, name on Tuesday that Frank O. Gehry to be the architect and designer for the new casino resort that is being proposed to be built as
Singapores second casino on Sentosa island.
Gehry who is best know for his works in the
Guggenheim Museum in Bilboa, Spain, will be in the running against other architects who have been appointed by another two rival bidders.
The Sentosa casino, which will be built on a nice property, 49 hectare, will actually be the second of Singapores casinos after the Marina Bay Sands, a 3.6 billion dollar casino resort, which is expected to open sometime in 2009.
This new Sentosa casino resort has the possibility to become on such a large scale, the must visit attraction for visitors and tourists to Singapore, said the Singapore Tourism Board. This will be a world class tropical resort offering fun and leisure for the whole family and a great experience.
Bids have ended for the Sentosa casino, but the government is expected to name the would be builder before the end of this year.
The Kerzner Ltd. is an international developer and operator of hotels and resorts and other luxury casinos. Their mother ship, is the Atlantis, Paradise Island Casino in the Bahamas, which is a 2,317 room, ocean themed casino resort.
