Board of Elections in Washington D.C., has given its approval for supporters of a slot machine initiative to begin collecting signatures.

The gambling machine initiative is not getting only supporting votes but also opposing ones. Opposes to the plan tried to stop the plan before it started, but they did not successes to stop the board from approving the petitions on the November ballot.

The initiator is a group from the U.S. Virgin Islands who wants to install 3,500 slot machines in a gambling hall that is planed to be built in Southeast Washington. This future casino is planed to be located near Martin Luther King Boulevard and Good Hope Road.

two years ago, a similar initiative has failed due to fraud and forgery found to be committed by the slots supporters.
