A 23 years old woman from Milan is the second runner at the 2006 Jack Binion World Series of Poker No Limit Holdem Ladies Event that took place on January 22 at the Grand Casino in Tunica.
Allison Brauer, a psychology student at the University of Tennessee, won nearly 15,000 dollars. The tournament lasted for more than 13 hours. Brauer said she learned to play Texas Holdem when she was 19. Recently, she practices the game almost every day, either on the internet or in live games with her family and friends.
After winning, Brauer decided to quit her job in the surgery center at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in order to become a professional poker player. She plans to visit Las Vegas, Oklahoma, California, New Orleans and Tunica casino during the next year and to participate in different Texas Holdem tournaments.
