Responsible Gambling
On September next year, the Gambling Commission will have substantial new powers under the Gambling Act of 2005, and its new consultation document. The Gambling Commission will monitor and regulate the activities of the British gambling operators.
Due to these new regulations, Britain's gambling operators will require a license from the Gambling Commission, and all other employees involved will be under Constant check ups. The check ups will include criminal records checks, integrity checks and financial checks.
The Commission's main target is to ensure socially responsible gambling. The Commission staff will cover wide gambling areas such as land based casinos, bingo clubs, betting shops and amusement arcades. The commission will also check online gambling sites on a regular basis to ensure high standards.
The Commission will operate tough sanctions against gambling organizations that do not follow these regulations, such as license suspension and potentially unlimited fines. The Commission will also investigate criminal offences, including illegal gambling facilities and gambling frauds.
According to the Gambling Commission chairman Peter Dean, their three main goals are: to keep crime out of gambling, to make sure fair gaming and to protect children and vulnerable people from harm.
