UK experts say the only was to eliminate the criminal eliminate from the online gambling
scene is with regulation.
A report released this week is warning that without regulation even legitimate online
casinos can become dens for money laundering.
If criminals opened up an online casino, they would be able to use ill gotten gains to
make payouts on fake bets and essentially make it clean money. Even the legitimate casinos
could become places for them to hide this money temporarily.
This is why last week in London they held the first Online gambling Summit. The purpose
for the summit was to try to come up a way to regulate the online gambling industry
globally.
"It is only by regulation of this industry and with bans as the Americans have done, can
we keep the criminals out of the online gambling business" was a quote from the secretary of
culture, media and sport in the UK, who was the official sponsor of this gathering.
According to people who attended it was a great first step in making sure the online
gambling industry does not get taken over by criminals, and to ensure the safety of those
who participate in online gambling.
