Theft at the Poker Table
A man was caught stealing a wallet from a poker player containing $235. The
Superior Court sentenced one-year
probation on the 22-year-old defendant.
The defendant got one-year probation and was required to pay to the victim a $250 fine, $125 in probation and assessment fees, and $235 in restitution. The defendant was also directed to perform 50 hours of community work service and write an apology letter to the owner of the wallet.
According to the Police, the victim was playing poker at Wild Orchids Poker on Feb. 11, 2006, when his wallet fell to the floor and later was taken by the defendant.
The police arrested the defendant On Feb. 23, 2006, behind GIG Discotheque in Garapan for allegedly assaulting another person. During his arrest, the stolen wallet containing the victim's identification cards was recovered by the police.
