Stud Poker Variations:

This page contains descriptions of various kinds of Stud Poker. Read and try some of the more popular ones out and then try winning cash by playing them online:

English Stud

English Stud is the name for several games, including London lowball, six-card stud played 1-4-1 with a twist (also called six-card option), and a seven-card stud game where both sixth street and seventh street are twist rounds. In the game of seven-card flip, each player receives four cards face down, and turns up two of them. After everyone has chosen what cards he wants to disclose, all cards are turned up at the same time. After that, the game proceeds as if it were standard seven-card stud starting on fourth street.

Option Valley

Option Valley is five-card stud played high-low split with an added twist round. This game is also called five-card option. Canadian stud or Soko poker is five-card stud with two new hands: a four-card straight beats one pair, a four-card flush beats a four-card straight, and two pair beats both four-card straight and four-card flush.

Baseball

Baseball is the name for a number of different games played only in low-stakes home games. These games generally involve many wild cards (often 3s and 9s), paying the pot for wild cards, being dealt an extra up-card upon receiving a 4, and many other additional rules such as, the appearance of the queen of spades is called a Rainout and ends the hand. If the same rules are applied to no peek, the game is called Night Baseball.

Kentrel

Seven-card stud variation which starts with each player being dealt four down-cards is called Kentrel or 48. Each player must discard one card and turn another one face up. Two cards remain face down and one face up. From this point the game proceeds as with eight-or-better high-low stud.

Chicago

Chicago is seven-card stud poker where the high hand splits the pot with the player who has the highest-ranking spades card among his down-cards. Little Chicago is a game where the lowest ranking spade splits the pot. Little Chicago players call the other variant of Chicago game Big Chicago.
